Tom shot this one in 1949, looking up from the base of the Jefferson Memorial's marble steps. The columned portico was modeled by architect John Russell Pope after the Pantheon in Rome, a fitting nod given how much Jefferson himself admired classical architecture. This photograph was pulled from Tom's slide archive of a postwar trip to Washington D.C., reproduced as an archival-quality fine art print.
