Tom photographed this gathering in 1949 at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The tomb was dedicated in 1921 to honor unidentified American service members and it's still guarded around the clock. Visitors were watching the changing of the guard in this photo, same as they do today. This photograph was pulled from Tom's slide archive of a postwar trip to Washington D.C., reproduced as an archival-quality fine art print.
